Minnesota Timberwolves: Kendrick Perkins Makes Wild Prediction for Timberwolves’ 2024 Playoff Run
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the most compelling storylines in this year’s playoffs. Many expected their first-round duel against the Phoenix Suns to reach six games, but they easily swept the top-heavy team. Anthony Edwards was feeling himself throughout the series, baring his fangs at Kevin Durant and the Suns in the process.

After dismantling such a top-heavy team, it’s understandable that the expectations have significantly risen for the Timberwolves. It wouldn’t be unfair to say that the team is even expected to make the Western Conference Finals, at the very least.

However, one analyst made a wild claim that would make Wolves fans excited and place a huge target on their team’s back.

Kendrick Perkins believes Minnesota Timberwolves will make the NBA Finals

Like many of the people closely following this year’s playoffs, Kendrick Perkins is deeply impressed with the level of basketball the Wolves are showing right now.

Their quality of play has left a deep impression on him that he’s even made a bold claim about the heights this year’s Minnesota Team can reach.

Per Jake Rogers of NBA Analysis Network:

“I’mma tell you this, the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to the NBA Finals. I know that much as long as they’re healthy. That wasn’t a fluke what we saw last night. This is who they’ve been all season long – a bunch of dogs, some nasty wolves led by Anthony Edwards, who is a killer,” Perkins said.

It may seem surprising for some that Perkins made such a bold claim, but he’s not making any assumptions out of thin air. The Wolves’ outstanding 106-99 Game 1 victory over the Denver Nuggets shows how well the team is playing.

They’re gelling so well that even the defending champs can’t help but drop a game against them.

The Timberwolves have what it takes to win it all

The Timberwolves have been unstoppable in this year’s playoffs, and it’s unlikely going to stop any time soon.

Edwards is one of the biggest reasons behind Kendrick Perkins’ high belief for the Wolves. His postseason averages of 33.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks has NBA legends comparing him to His Airness.

Minnesota is even more terrifying because Ant-Man’s not the only one playing up a level. Karl-Anthony Towns is a great secondary star to Ant-Man, and Rudy Gobert is a fantastic defensive presence. Moreover, four other Minnesota Timberwolves are scoring at least ten points a game this postseason.

Kendrick is correct with his take if we look at how the Wolves are playing right now. As long as the entire roster stays healthy, they have a fighting chance to make the Finals.
