Braves make another trade with Red Sox after sweeping them
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, it was announced that Luis Guillorme had been traded to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Guillorme was serving as the Braves’ primary utility infielder, but they also had David Fletcher ready at a moment’s notice in Gwinnett. It seemed like he was destined for the call, but not even a day after wrapping up a sweep of the Red Sox, Alex Anthopoulos swung a deal with them to acquire infielder Zack Short.

Short is out of options, so he will take Guillorme’s spot on the major league roster.

The 28-year-old has appeared in 12 games this season for the Mets and Red Sox, hitting .063 with a .229 OPS. Last season, he played 110 games for the Tigers, recording a .631 OPS over 253 plate appearances. Short’s not exactly a world-beater with the stick, so let’s hope everyone stays healthy so we don’t have to see much of him this season.
